    This manual explains how to use StartPageSM service.

     

    What is StartPageSM ?

    This is an easy way for access to your favorites...

    • ...from anywhere (from home, work or public internet)
    • ...from different devices like PC, laptop, tablet, phone, etc.
    • ...from different browsers (Safari, Opera, IE, Chrome, etc.)
    • ...if you want to share favorites with somebody

    With our service you can create any online start pages you want and easy manage your favorites!

     

    How to start enjoying?

    You can enjoy this service trough three easy steps:

    1. Create an account to get the link to your personal online start page.
    2. Make your online start page as default page for all browsers.
    3. Add/manage bookmarks at your online start page.
     

    STEP 1. Creating the account

    During creating of the account you will be asked with:

    • Name. This is your regular name. It is not required to provide with your last name. The name has to be consist of 2..20 symbols. Your name will be shown on your start page to indicate the current user.

    • E-mail. Please provide with your real E-mail. It will be required for a confirmation of your registration and in the case of login recovery.

    • Nickname. The nickname is a unique and short word, which will be a part of the short link to your personal start page. Nickname can consist of 4..20 Latin letters and/or digits. Try to use an easy and short Nickname because this is the best way to remember your link to your personal start page.

      The example. My name is John Smith. I have registered at the StartPageSM service and during registration I've indicated the word 'john' as my Nickname. The service gave me the link to my personal online start page: https://startpg.com/john

    • Password. The password has to be at least 6 symbols long.

    • Human confirmation. At the end, please check checkbox "I'm not a robot" to confirm you aren't a robot or a spam system.

     

    STEP 2. Change your web browser default (home) page

    You can start with your online start page each time when you open your browser. For that you need to assign the online start page as your default home page in each browser you use. Please see below the instructions for most popular browsers:

     

    STEP 3. Manage your favorites

    As soon your online start page is opened you can start to manage your favorites:

    • Add/Edit/Delete bookmarks
    • Manage favorites sections
    • Mange Access Points
     

    How to add bookmarks

    You can start to manage your bookmarks as soon you logged in StartPageSM service. The default section 'Start page' is created automatically.

    • Click 'Add a new bookmark'.
    • Enter or paste URL of any internet page to the field 'Paste bookmark's URL here'.
    • Enter the URL title to the field 'Add bookmark's description (Not required)'. It is optional, if you leave this field empty, the title will be generated automatically.
    • Click the button 'Add'.
     

    How to edit bookmarks

    You can change URLs, titles or redefine sections for any of your bookmarks. For that, hover mouse on the bookmark for 0.5 sec. and click the Edit Icon: . To show Edit Icon on touchscreen devices, at the Top Menu click the button ' Edit'.

    At the modal window you can change bookmark's URL, Title, redefine Section, add note, update or upload a new screenshot thumbnail.

     

    How to delete bookmarks

    To delete the bookmark, hover mouse on it for 0.5 sec. and click the Delete Icon: . To show Delete Icon on touchscreen devices, at the Top Menu click the button ' Edit'.

    At the modal window just confirm the deletion.

     

    How to work with bookmarks Pages

    You can organize (group) your bookmarks using bookmarks Pages. The default Page 'Start page' is created automatically by StartPageSM service as soon you log in the account first time. You can add, delete or edit Pages and Subpages.

    Different pages can be identified as start pages for your browsers (see below info about Devices).

    To manage Pages, use Top Menu 'Settings' - 'My Pages':

    • To add a new Page, click the link 'Add a new page' and enter the Page's name you like. You can select an existing parent Page to create a Subpage.
    • To edit the Page, click icon: 'Page settings'.
    • To delete the Page, click icon: 'Delete Page'.
     

    My Devices

    Devices are the places where you use StartPageSM service from. For example, it can be the browser Internet Explorer at your home computer or browser Safary an your cell phone.

    The main idea of using of Devices is an assignment own start page for each browser you use. For example, for the home computer browser it can be a start page 'Home', but for work computer it can be a start page 'Work'.

    As soon you save current Device you don't need to log in with password each time you open the browser. For privacy, save your private devices only. Do not save Devices on computers with public access!

    To manage Devices, use Top Menu 'Settings' - 'My Devices':

    • To add the current Device, click the link 'Add current device' and enter the Device's name you like. Select a start page for this device.
    • To edit the Device, click icon: 'Device settings'
    • To delete the Device, click icon: 'Delete Device'

    Addition information (ip-address, operation system, browser and date) could help you to recognize the Device.

    Important notice. If you have added Device, but our service can't recognize you and ask the password, the most common reason for that is your browser does not keep cookies from websites. In this case you need to switch on this option. Otherwise, the main idea of our service will not work for you.

     

    Linked accounts

    You can log in with social accounts to the StartPageSM service. But for that, you need to link them with the StartPageSM service first.

    To manage Linked Accounts, use Top Menu: 'Settings' - 'Linked accounts'.

    As soon you linked your social account (Facebook or Google) you do not need to enter the password to StartPageSM service - you will be logged in automatically. Linking the account is not provide any your personal data for us except your name and E-mail. This procedure is required to confirm your ownership of E-mail.

     

    Account settings

    To manage appearance, use menu 'Settings' - 'Appearance'. Here you can change background, style, etc.

    To manage user personal settings, use menu 'Settings' - 'Personal Data'. Here you can change your name, language, password, etc.

     

    Deleting account

    You are free to delete your account from our service. We are very sorry if we did not meet your expectations.

    To delete your account, use menu 'Settings' - 'Options' and click on tab 'Delete my account'.

    Warning! If you delete your account, your private info, all sections and all bookmarks will be removed from our database immediately. There will not be any possibility to restore these data.

    Placing Orders for Products

    By placing an Order for Products through the Service, You warrant that You are legally capable of entering into binding contracts.

    Your Information

    If You wish to place an Order for Products available on the Service, You may be asked to supply certain information relevant to Your Order including, without limitation, Your name, Your email, Your phone number, Your credit card number, the expiration date of Your credit card, Your billing address, and Your shipping information.

    Refunds

If you purchase a PrivacyPolicies.com Product, and for some reason you decide that you would like a refund, you have 7 days to request a refund. If you request a refund within 7 days from the date of purchase, PrivacyPolicies.com will give you a full refund of your purchase price.

    If you do not request a refund within the 7 day refund period, you forfeit this option and will not be eligible for a refund.

The storage periods are determined on a case-by-case basis that depends on factors like the nature of the information, why it is collected and processed, relevant legal or operational retention needs, and legal obligations.

    If you would like to further manage, change, or limit your information, you can do that through the Services Settings (available under Settings > Options > Personal Data)

    If you would like to delete your information, incliding your Third-Party Social Media Service account information, you can do that through the following options:

    • Deleting Your StartPage Account. You can delete your StartPage account at any time using our delete account feature (available under Settings > Options > Delete My Acount).
    • Send the request to the StartPage support team at the email: "support@startpg.com" and ask to delete your account and all Personal Data associated with account.

    Security of Your Personal Data

    The security of Your Personal Data is important to Us, but remember that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While We strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect Your Personal Data, We cannot guarantee its absolute security.

    Children's Privacy

    Our Service does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13. If You are a parent or guardian and You are aware that Your child has provided Us with Personal Data, please contact Us. If We become aware that We have collected Personal Data from anyone under the age of 13 without verification of parental consent, We take steps to remove that information from Our servers.

    If We need to rely on consent as a legal basis for processing Your information and Your country requires consent from a parent, We may require Your parent's consent before We collect and use that information.

    Thanks for using StartPageSM service! These terms of service ("Terms") cover your use and access to the services, client software and websites ("Services") provided by StartPageSM service. By using our Services, you're agreeing to be bound by these Terms. If you're using our Services for an organization, you're agreeing to these Terms on behalf of that organization.

    Your Stuff & Your Permissions

    When you use our Services, you provide us with things like your URLs, files, content, email messages, contacts and so on ("Your Stuff"). Your Stuff is yours. These Terms don't give us any rights to Your Stuff except for the limited rights that enable us to offer the Services.

    We need your permission to do things like hosting Your Stuff, backing it up, and sharing it when you ask us to. Our Service also provides you with features like URLs, thumbnails, document previews, email organization, easy sorting, editing, sharing and searching. These and other features may require our systems to access, store and scan Your Stuff. You give us permission to do those things, and this permission extends to trusted third parties we work with.

    StartPageSM service does not store or capture personal information, other than logging the user’s IP address, user’s Operation System, user’s Device and session information such as the duration of the visit and type of browser used. This information is automatically recognised by the web server and is only used to help users with their work at StartPageSM service, for system administration and monitoring website traffic. If you create a login profile for the database your details will be used and retained within the database. They will not be passed on, sold or used for any other purpose. This privacy policy only covers this site. Other links within this site to other websites are not covered by this policy.

    Cookies

    Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer or device by the websites that you visit. They are widely used in order to make websites work and to provide information to the owner of the website.

    When someone visits StartPageSM service we collect standard internet log information to make certain parts of the website work, for instance in order to sign up and automatic login, when we need to know who you are. You can delete existing cookies and block new ones from StartPageSM service but this will mean that main idea of our service will not work for you.

    Termination

    You're free to stop using our Services at any time. We also reserve the right to suspend or end the Services at any time at our discretion and without notice. For example, we may suspend or terminate your use of the Services if you're not complying with these Terms, or use the Services in a manner that would cause us legal liability, disrupt the Services or disrupt others' use of the Services. Except for Paid Accounts, we reserve the right to terminate and delete your account if you haven't accessed our Services for 6 consecutive months. We'll of course provide you with notice via the email address associated with your account before we do so.

    We may revise these Terms from time to time, and will always post the most current version on our website. If a revision meaningfully reduces your rights, we will notify you (by, for example, sending a message to the email address associated with your account, posting on our blog or on this page). How to change a default page at Google Chrome

For example, my name is John and I have gotten the start page url: 'https://startpg.com/john'. at the StartPageSM service. To set this url as a default page for my browser I followed next easy steps:

1 Chrome Menu 'Settings':

2 Section 'On startup' 'Open a specific page or set of pages'. Click 'Set pages':

3 Add a new page - paste the URL of your start page and click 'Ok':
